Many items familiar to our returning visitors reappear in new exhibits at the Museum and Visitor Center. Additionally, items related to President Abraham Lincoln's visit to Gettysburg in 1863 and the establishment of Soldiers National Cemetery are on display at the David Wells House in Gettysburg, which opened to the public in February 2009. Train lovers will not be disappointed.
Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station™ tells the story of Lincoln's arrival, the Gettysburg Address and the importance of the train station in the new virtual reality experience "A Ticket to the Past - An Unforgettable Journey." Wilson said the museum's focus is on how veterans' experiences shaped the postwar world.
"We really spend a lot of time talking about our veterans, their stories and their unique experiences," she said. "The participation of veterans from the community was amazing." The authorized battlefield guides have been rigorously tested and licensed by Gettysburg National Military Park and have helped thousands of park visitors better understand the Battle of Gettysburg.
